Martin hopes Huddersfield performance will encourage owners to spend

Russell Martin told BBC Radio Wales that he hopes today’s encouraging performance in the 1-1 draw at Huddersfield will persuade the club’s owners to support the pursuit of new players.

There is just over two weeks left until the transfer window shuts and with Jake Bidwell potentially on his way to Coventry, Martin is fully aware of the need to strengthen.

Today’s second half show was a real positive after four straight defeats and some fairly lacklustre displays, seeing the Swans level through Flynn Downes’ late strike.

Martin’s men missed a number of other opportunities, going close through substitute Obafemi and an injury time Piroe effort which went agonisingly wide as Swansea turned the screw after the interval.

The Manager now hopes that the strong second half display will be enough to ensure be can bring in the players that are so desperately needed.

Martin said: “It’s been difficult – we are spinning so many plates,”

“It’s been a frustrating time. We have been so close to a couple of people and then it doesn’t quite happen for various reasons.

“The strategy we have presented I think makes sense and I hope the owners see performances like this and realise with a bit of help that we can maybe kick on.

“Hopefully that will be the case by the end of the window, we will have to see.”
