Liverpool have recalled defender Rhys Williams after an unsuccessful loan spell with the Swans.

The move has long been anticipated with Williams limited to few games due to a difficulty in finding any decent form since arriving in the summer.

The move further depleted Russell Martin’s choices in defence, although it seems there was little reluctance on the club’s part when the loan deal was set to be terminated.

Williams will now return to Liverpool to fight for first team football, although a loan move could be another option, depending on the future of one time Swans target Nat[wp_show_posts id=”31835″] Phillips.
