Russell Martin has again reiterated his desire to bolster his squad in the last few days of the transfer window, particularly in forward areas.
The Swans boss highlighted that, perhaps, with more quality in those positions tonight, the Swans would have taken all three points from Shepherd’s Bush to add to their 11th clean sheet of the season.
Undoubtedly Jamie Paterson was a loss tonight, and this season Swansea have scored 28 goals in 25 games – 45 less than Fulham’s 73 at the top of the league. And no that is not a mistype – although the Cottagers have been in incredible scoring form. That also isn’t saying that they should be the benchmark with their relative riches in comparison to our squad.
Joel Piroe is struggling for service and is on his longest barren run without a goal for the club and clearly needs support up top; Wolf will help with this but is rusty and needs time to get up to speed.
On the need to add to the options at the top end of the pitch Martin stated: “A bit more quality in the final third and I think we can maybe come away with three points, but back-to-back clean sheets, I think we got the least we deserved tonight against a very good team.
“We’ve said that all the way along. We just need a bit of help in that area. Joel Latibeaudere will get better and better in the final third, but he’s living those moments for the first time. He’s never done it before, but I think he’s been great.
“Cyrus [Christie], playing his third game in six months. Joel Piroe looked a little bit tired tonight and Michael [Obafemi] came on and gave us a bit of energy.
“They just need a bit of help. We have a lot of games coming up.
“I’ve got nothing but pride for what we’ve got, but we just need a little bit of help in certain areas.”
Tonight’s draw keeps Swansea in 17th but another encouraging display moving forwards to Hull on Saturday.
