Phil SumblerRhys Williams was recalled by Liverpool last week but his future remains unclear following his loan spell in SA1 and he could yet be set for a Championship return with Sheffield United and Reading both reported as being keen.
However, Williams immediate future is likely to be dictated by events concerning another Anfield defender in Nat Phillips.ย The Press Association reported yesterday that Liverpool have already turned down a loan with obligation to buy offer from Newcastle and a ยฃ7m bid from Watford has previously been rejected.ย ย West Ham are also reported to be keen on the player and it now looking increasingly likely that he will leave before Monday’s deadline.
Should this happen it is widely speculated that Williams will stay at Anfield as cover and that would mean no loan move back to the Championship.
Williams moved to the Swans on a season long loan at the start of the season but his game time was curtailed here as Liverpool are keen for all the players they have out on loan to be getting regular first team football.
Sky Sports transfer centre reported yesterday that both the Blades and Reading are keen to take him on loan for the remainder of the season but Liverpool do want from any potential club those assurances that he will feature in the first team.
The sale of Phillips is not reported by Sky as being certain that Williams will stay at Anfield but it does appear more likely
