Jamie Paterson made a successful return to the Swansea side last night creating the only goal of the game for Michael Obafemi which gave the Swans a hard earned 1-0 win over high flying Blackburn at the Swansea.com stadium.
Paterson’s perfect cross in the 16th minute was met by the head of Obafemi to score what turned out to be the crucial goal that gave the Swans a first win in four and lifted them slightly up the table.
It was Paterson’s first game back following his absence from the side and he was largely welcomed back by the fans, repaying them almost instantly with his assist.ย It was a tough baptism of fire on his return with the side playing the last 35 minutes with 10 men following the sending off of Ryan Manning and tested Paterson’s fitness to the extreme at the same time.
Speaking to the club’s official website after the game, the forward man said the backing of the fans prior to kick off meant much to him on his return to the side. โThat was amazing, to be fair. It gave me a big boost and really gave me that lift to come back in and pick up where I left off from before,โ he said.
โThey got behind me, they sang my name, it was an amazing feeling and I was just glad to give them the three points.
โI love playing football, sometimes things off the pitch can be difficult and I just want to get back to playing football.
โThe fans helped settle my nerves and I was glad to be able to repay them with an assist, and we got three points against a really good side.
โI will try and score and assist as many times as I can, and bring the leadership and experience the gaffer talks to me about.โ
Yes a more aggressive display, certainly after the sending offwhich in my opinion was down to travis who acted like a little boy i n a mans world, how he never got a card for having more discussions with the ref than his own wife i never know,But after 90 mins justice was done,Welldone the swans, never back down.Oh and by the way welcome back Jamie Paterson
