Rattled Bristol City manager rages at his team

Someone is clearly rattled, Bristol City manager Nigel Pearson was an angry man and was quick to openly criticise his team after they fell apart in defeat at the Swansea.com Stadium this afternoon.

His team eventually lost 3-1 despite taking the lead and drop below the Swans as a result thanks to goals from Michael Obafemi, Cyrus Christie and Joel Piroe.

In a bizarre move, Pearson was so irritated by what he had seen he wouldn’t even sit down at the post match press conference as his side went a tenth game without a win away from home.

Pearson is never one to not speak his mind, although it isn’t the first time this season that he has been critical of his team – perhaps he should look a bit closer at his tactics and set up too?

He told the press post match: “When people say โ€˜have you worked at that?โ€™ I say listen, what you canโ€™t do is you canโ€™t give players desire.

“So we might have to make changes because people like me lose my job through results. What Iโ€™m not having is, Iโ€™m not having players who cop-out.

“Weโ€™ve been in a winning position, weโ€™ve had loads of possession, nine attempts in the first half, five or six in the second as an away side. We get in front and concede three crap goals.

“We might have to make changes. Maybe weโ€™ve got players in our squad at the moment that have got until now and the end of the season to prove whether theyโ€™re good enough to be here next year whether Iโ€™m the manager or anybody else.

“This football club has had too long putting up with players that are just going through the motions at times.

“You watched the game. You watched the game, didnโ€™t you? You watched it one week, watched it the next. Was it the same? (when asked about the same players making defensive mistakes)

“Iโ€™m not protecting players on a day like today when we should get something out of the game at least. Congratulations to them (Swansea).”
