Martin again points to the summer for MORE changes

Russell Martin has again looked to the summer in the wake of the 0-0 draw against Birmingham to improve the depth and quality throughout the squad.

The Swans boss has regularly talked about his wants for the summer window with a number of moves in and out expected (although not sure where you’d start on a day like today!)

He is looking to add “specialists” like Nathanael Ogbeta who made his home debut today and add to the overall depth allowing for more changes to be made from game to game.

The January window saw Andy Fisher, Cyrus Christie, Finley Burns, Hannes Wolf and Ogbeta brought in and Martin did oversee the summer signings of Jamie Paterson, Flynn Downes, Michael Obafemi, Ethan Laird and Rhys Williams (both of whom have since left). That was adding to Joel Piroe and Kyle Joseph who signed before his arrival in the same window.

Talking in his post match interview, he said: “It (also) shows the importance of having depth next season. We haven’t got enough. It’s something we need to address for next season.

“I love the group of players we’ve got but we need a few specialists in certain areas. Nat [Nathanael Ogbeta] came on and showed some of the tools he’s going to have for that wing-back position.

“We know what we need. We’re not learning, it’s reinforcing what we know.

“In terms of what we feel we need for the summer, it’s been pretty set in stone for a while and we need to get working on it soon.”
