Now we simply just have to win

It has not been a good couple of days results wise for Swansea fans with the last minute defeat against Leeds followed by Cardiff beating Derby last night meaning we have to go to the City Ground this evening with the mentality that we have to win.

Whilst mathematically we cannot be out of play off contention this evening anything other than a win will leave our hopes hanging by the thinnest of threads.ย  Ironically a win will have Forest looking nervously over their shoulders at both Welsh sides in the division but they also know that a win will secure their own play off position come the end of the season.

The damage of that late Pablo Hernandez goal on Sunday may haunt us for some time to come but maybe not as much as Derby gifting Cardiff two goals to secure the points and move themselves into prime position for the final play off spot.

The one positive we have to take into the game this evening is that we played well against Leeds.ย  We matched them for large periods of the game and deserved a point on the overall balance of play.ย  If we took that form into the game at the City Ground then why couldn’t we pull off another away win and keep ourselves in the hunt.

We have to have some comfort as well in that our remaining two games beyond this evening are very winnable against sides with nothing to play for which could play right into our hands.ย  The play off race since we came back from the enforced absence from football has already felt somewhat of a roller coaster ride and maybe it does have one more twist or turn before it is all over.

We’re going to try to win the rest of the games. That will be our plan. We go to Forest. We take a lot of heart from our performance against Leeds.

The dressing room is down, but motivated. I can see there’s fire in the belly there because they know we deserved more from the game.- Steve Cooper

But for now the equation feels very simple – this is the very definition of a must win game.
