Wales and Bournemouth midfielder David Brooks has announced that he is free from cancer after being diagnosed with stage 2 Hodgkin lymphoma in October 2021.

He has been undergoing treatment for the past six months and revealed earlier today that he had been given the all clear which is fantastic news for all.

It’ll also provide a great boost for the Welsh team with the potential of a World Cup campaign in Qatar looming in the winter months.

It’s a double celebration for Brooks as his Bournemouth team have celebrated promotion to the Premier League tonight after defeating Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest 1-0 to clinch second place.

He wrote on Instagram: โ€œIt has been a few months since my last update and in that time I have thankfully completed my cancer treatment.

โ€œI would like to say a huge thank you to all the incredible medical staff for their amazing work and support throughout the process.
