Julian Winter has said that the Swans key transfer priorities this summer are “two centre backs and a right wing back” as they continue their preparations for the new season which is just over 10 weeks away.

Winter was speaking at the fan’s forum on Tuesday evening and was asked about the transfer plans for this window – Russell Martin’s first summer window at the club – and one believed to be a big one in terms of his long term vision for the club.

Winter was clear on the top three priorities for that window with Martin revealing that talks with Cyrus Christie over an extended stay were open but addedWe are probably a little bit apart in terms of where he has been financially and where we are at.

“I think the conversation will keep going on and it might change again. But we have to have other options apart from Cyrus as well.”

The Swans defensive frailties were clear to be seen in the final weeks of the season with three goal margins thrown away against both Reading and Bournemouth whilst five goals were shipped at promotion chasing Nottingham Forest.

With Ryan Bennett likely to leave the club this summer the Swans have less options in the middle of their defence and it is a clear area where we need to strengthen during the summer months.

The developments around Cyrus Christie will be watched with interest but it is clear from he words of the boss that he will move on if they can not reach a financial agreement with the player – just another move in what looks set to be a busy summer in SA1.
