Phil SumblerThe Swans hopes of bringing Rhian Brewster back to the Liberty for a second loan spell seem to be fading fast with the BBC news report yesterday that at least 6 Premier League clubs have enquired about taking the striker on loan next season.
Brewster was a huge part of the Swans run to the play-offs last season with the striker averaging one goal every two league appearances to net 10 times in total after arriving on loan in January.ย ย It was reported, even before last season finished, that the Swans had enquired to Liverpool about taking him on loan for a second term but whilst they were complimentary about his time in South Wales, a Premier League move seems the most obvious choice.
The BBC reports that Aston Villa, Brighton, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Newcastle United have all enquired about the availability of the player whilst it is also rumoured that the three relegated sides from the top flight – Norwich, Watford and Bournemouth – would also be interested should a Championship move be in the offing.
It leaves the Swans facing some real stiff competition for a player who is currently on a pre-season camp with Liverpool as they decide what the best immediate future is for a player that they rate very highly.ย Liverpool will want any move to coincide with a lot of first team football for Brewster although a link up with Steve Cooper could still appeal to the Premier League champions given his knowledge of the players from both club and country.

However, given the competition, the quality of the player and the fact that Premier League clubs are lining it it does seem that a move back to South Wales is one of the most unlikely scenarios which will see Steve Cooper needing to look elsewhere for a striking option.
