Phil SumblerYesterday was another one of those good days in the transfer markets as the Swans ensured quality additions to their squad which will help our cause in the coming season.
Firstly we had the securing of Kyle Naughton on a new contract.ย The full back has been at the club for more than five years and is closing in on 200 appearances having joined from Spurs for the sum of ยฃ5m.ย He was out of contract at the end of last season but has signed a 12 month deal with an option for a further 12 months beyond that which will add much needed experience to the squad.
At Championship level he proves good value to the team and scored three goals last season (half of his total Swansea tally) and featured in 33 of the 49 Championship games we played.
Added to that Steve Cooper added the loan signing of another one of his World Cup winning side to the team yesterday when Morgan Gibbs-White arrived on loan from Wolves.ย The midfielder follows in the footsteps of Conor Gallagher, Rhian Brewster and Marc Guehi all of whom were part of the same squad that won the Under-17 World Cup in 2017.
Gibbs-White made 7 appearances in the Premier League and 7 more in the Europa League last season for Wolves, netting once as well as playing in both the FA and the EFL Cups for the side.ย He comes – like his former team-mates – with high recommendations and hope that he can have the same impact as the others did.

I would love to follow on from what those three guys did here because they were a massive part of what went on last season in trying to get back to where we should be.

Speaking of the others, it has also been reported that Marc Guehi will return to the Liberty for the whole of next season after that impressive loan spell.
It was anticipated that he would return as the initial suggestions when he signed was that the deal had an option to extend for a further 12 months and with van der Hoorn and Ben Wilmot already having left it was only logical (and right) that we extended the loan.
So with an assumption that this is to be the case it makes for another strong day in the markets for the Swans and all three players will have a huge part to play for us in the upcoming campaign.
