Phil SumblerLooks like the football agents are out and about drumming up interest in their stars again with Crystal Palace forced to rubbish claims that they have made a ยฃ19m (with ยฃ6m add ons) bid for Rhian Brewster.
After Sky Sports reported this as a story this morning, Palace Chairman Steve Parish took to Twitter stating that he had asked Sky to take the story down as it was complete fabrication.
The transfer move for Brewster has been one of the ongoing transfer stories of the summer with the Swans keeping an eye on the next move although recent reports have suggested that Sheffield United are ready to make a transfer bid for the player.
At this stage it becomes almost the norm for the agent to leak “news” of another move for the player with an aim to pushing upwards his stock value which of course earns the agent another few pounds in his own pocket due to increased agent fees.
Most of the time these stories go unchallenged so it is interesting that Parish took to social media to rubbish the move which could even suggest a double bluff with him trying not to get into a bidding war?

The arrival at Liverpool this weekend of Diogo Jota does suggest that they would be prepared to let the player they rated so highly go and that in itself means there is no real surprise to find some level of story telling in a club making a bid that does not exist.
Either way with Brewster looking like a permanent departure from Anfield we know that we are out of the running and Steve Cooper must look elsewhere – let’s hope he had a plan B!
