Coaching support coming in for Martin?

Former Dundee United first team coach Adam Ashgar is wanted by Swansea City and new Sunderland boss Tony Mowbray according to media reports this morning.

Alan Nixon from the Sun reports that the Swans are battling the newly promoted team for Ashgar’s signature in a bit to bolster Russell Martin’s backroom team.

Nixon is somewhat controversial and can be a bit hit and miss with his transfer links but one would think there is a degree of truth in such an obscure suggestion and perhaps it is a move to help support Martin after a mixed start to the season.

Ashgar left Dundee United following the dismissal of manager Jack Ross who was sacked after a 9-0 loss to Celtic earlier this season.

He is the son of United’s sporting director Tony Ashgar and originally joined as head of professional performance before stepping up to first team affairs.

Highly rated, the 28 year old had a largely unremarkable career in the lower leagues of Scotland and was born in Glasgow, starting out at Motherwell.

Yesterday’s win against Hull was more than welcome and puts the Swans in a comfortable position going into the international break but today’s news of Cardiff sacking Steve Morrison demonstrates how quickly things change.

Some experience would be a big help surely?
