Butler Knows Swans Will Go For It

It was a solitary Johnson goal last week that gave the Dons a surprise victory at the Liberty Stadium but Friday’s goalscoring hero knows that Roberto will only know one solution to try and ensure it is him, rather than Paul Ince, who leads his side out under the Wembley arch on March 30.

And that, Butler feels, will play directly into his hands as he looks to continue a great run of form and cement his place in the side especially with Paul Anderson possibly set to return from injury.

Butler told the Western Mail โ€œWe are 1-0 down so we will have to go at them, but, whether we are home or away, we have been attacking teams all season.

โ€œIf we are still 1-0 down after a while the manager is just going to tell us to go out and attack, attack, attack. As a winger to have that freedom is great because you can really have a go at defenders, and for the other team that must be a nightmare. โ€œWhen you play out wide you love getting the ball all the time. In this team you are always going to get a lot of chances, Iโ€™ve had six goals this season, but I probably shouldโ€™ve had a few more.

โ€œYou want to play as many games as you can,โ€ he said. โ€œEvery game is just as important as the rest and we are only one game away from Wembley.

โ€œIt was disappointing to lose the first game 1-0 because we created a lot of chances, but itโ€™s only one goal and thatโ€™s not too much to ask.

โ€œItโ€™s better than being two or three nil and we will always attack teams, even away.

โ€œLast week we had a lot of chances and if weโ€™d put them away we would have been three or four nil up.

โ€œThe cup means a lot to everyone involved in the squad and we would all love to go there and get a win. Not many players will get the chance to play at Wembley in their career and win a cup, so itโ€™s a massive incentive for us.

โ€œItโ€™s as much for the fans as for us, for them to have a day out at Wembley would be fantastic and thatโ€™s what we are playing.

โ€œWeโ€™ve got the chance to make history so the club and the city would have a great lift.โ€ MK Dons will want to preserve their one-goal advantage for as long as possible, but Butler believes with the attacking quality available to the Swans it is now only a matter of time in games before they can get a goal.

He explained, โ€œTeams know about the quality we have so they put men behind the ball and try to stop us playing and MK Dons will probably be a bit more cautious in their approach.

โ€œOur last few games have all been like that, itโ€™s just a matter of time before we break teams down. Whether it comes in the first 10 minutes or not, we are always going to get a goal.โ€
