Brandy Out To Make Swansea Mark

The young striker has impressed in his short spell at the Liberty and hopes to build on that during the last fourteen games of the season as the Swans move towards the goal that will see Championship football hopefully return to the city for the first time in 24 years.

Brandy was the hero just a few weeks back as he fired a late winner to see off Oldham at the Liberty and keep the Swans on track for the goal they set themselves back last summer.   And whilst he may have not seen the city centre after that game to celebrate he has seen it now but that was only because he is unable to read the Welsh roadsigns that you find around all areas of the Principality.

Thankfully there was no such issue for the representatives of MUTV who found their way into Swansea earlier in the week to interview their man for a progress update for the Man Utd fans left back at home (in Surrey??)

“I’m only here until the end of the season, but I’d love to be part of a team that wins promotion,” Brandy told the Western Mail

“It is a culture shock to be away from United but at the same time it’s a massive experience.

“It’s important to get first-team games under your belt at such a young age so that you’re ready for it in the future.

“You get to 18 or 19 and you start thinking about the possibility of going out on loan,” said Brandy.

“And when the chance came to go to Swansea I thought it was a good move because of the way I was told they play football.

“It’s worked out that way. I’ve had to be patient because you’ve got to be in football, but it suits me here. It’s not route one, defender to defender.

“The Swansea team like to play, keep the ball on the floor and play through the opposition.

“Sir Alex didn’t put any pressure on me before I came down here, he just wants you to do well.

“But he reminds you that while you’re repping Swansea, you’re repping United at the same time. You’ve got to be on your best behaviour, he tells you never to forget that.

“It’s big competition because you’ve got world-class players there,” said Brandy.

“But if you can shine amongst those players then you’re in business. I’ve trained with them in and out and when you do the tempo is just different.

“Rooney and Ronaldo are simply something different. But I always look at Ronaldo because you see some unbelievable things in training that you try to pick up on.

“Sometimes they don’t work when you try them, but he just makes you want to do it and keep practising hard.

“I’ve got a few goals off the bench for Swansea, but I would like to get a few more and keep on working for the team.

“Doing that will help me because that’s what going on loan means, getting first-team games so if the gaffer (Ferguson) does put you into the squad it’s not a big shock.”
