Scotland To Ipswich? Not A Chance

The snippet comes in their football gossip column – the same column that declared Luke Moore would sign at Swansea and also that John Hartson was a done deal and would be a Swansea player in January 07, July 07 and January 08.    So there we go then, Scotland must be revving up his tractor as I type.

Let's look at the harsh reality of this one.   Scotland has 22 goals to his name this season – the next one he scores will equal the best tally that Lee Trundle ever put in in a Swansea shirt.  He is the joint top league scorer in League One – only the highly rated Jermaine Beckford has the same tally with 17 each.   Scotland has every chance of walking away with the award at the end of the season – Beckford has scored just twice since the turn of the year.   I'm struggling to see why we would let Scotland go at this moment in time especially when we have no other goalscorer waiting in the wings.

Of course he is highly criticised – mind you so was Trundle – but his job is to score goals and he has done that with some superb success this season.   I'm sure Jim Magilton would love to bring him to Portman Road but then again I don't suspect that he is the only Championship manager who would love one of the country's top scorers in the side.   But I'm struggling to see at the moment why he would automatically turn to a League One player when missing out on someone who has been capped for his country.

And more importantly I really don't see why we would even consider letting him go let alone actually doing it.   All things being equal in two months time Jason will effectively be playing for a Championship club anyway and, at that point in time, the advantage lies with us whether we want to keep him or not.

Scotland will be here until the end of the season at the very bare minimum and that gives all of us who backed him as top league one scorer to have a good chance of cashing in.

And yesterday's News of the World is today's cat litter tray lining.
