“It’s Sometimes Easier To Play Away”

The Swans defend an impressive away league record at Northampton on Saturday – the first of three away games in a week – Bristol Rovers (Tuesday) and Southend (Friday) follow the game for the Swans.  And it is almost six months since they tasted defeat on the road – a 2-0 reverse at Leeds United back on September 22 was one of only two away league defeats this season.   The twelve games played in that period without defeat have set a club record – a record that Roberto looks to extend this week.

28 points have been amassed in that 12 game period and the Swans have already tasted success a hugely impressive 10 times on the road this season – more than any other club in the division and that surely is enough to send the Swans on their travels with a huge level of confidence.   Well, certainly if confidence has been knocked by just one point from the two home fixtures last week then it isn't showing as all the talk has been that there is no need to panic and that the promotion goal is very much within our grasp.

And with both Doncaster (Brighton and Yeovil) and Carlisle (Swindon and Leyton Orient) facing away trips this week, it could turn out to be one of the most pivotal weeks of the season to date.

Speaking via the official website Roberto said "The only pressure is the pressure we put on ourselves by setting such high standards. Some of the football we've played this season has been of a very high standard and it's something we aim for every game.

"It doesn't always happen, but our overall performance levels have remained good and if we keep them up we'll pick up the points we need.'

"Our record away this season has been very good,'' he added. "In fact, sometimes it's easier to play away – it suits us.

"At the Liberty Stadium teams come and put men behind the ball and make it very difficult for us to break them down.

"We have 11 games left and I want to win every one.''
