Robinson Backs Scotland For More

Two from Scotland moved him either one or two clear of Jermaine Beckford depending on which scorers chart you use as your reference point and that in itself leaves many Swans fans – who backed Scotland at much higher odds than 20-1 – in line for a pay day come May.  Probably a double pay day if the Swans maintain their league position.

But still Scotland has more than his fair share of critics and comes in for stick that can't surely be warranted when you consider the goal return.   Many state "Anybody could score goals in this team" but in fairness Scotland is the only one to take himself past double figures to date and also has a tally that eclipses any tally that Lee Trundle put in during his four year spell at the club.

And it is Andy Robinson who is backing Scotland to keep scoring despite the criticism and also despite his loyalty to his best man Trundle “To get to 23 goals at this stage of the season is a tremendous achievement and only what he deserves." he told the Wales on Sunday

“At the start of the season there was obviously huge disappointment when Lee left because he did great things for the club and there was no doubt we needed someone who could be a 20-goal a season man; Jason’s been that man.

“He’s taken his chance but it’s not just the goals he’s scored but the ones he’s created for others too.

“I can’t understand why he hasn’t had a bigger impact with the fans because, in terms of what he’s done for the team so far, he deserves a bigger pat on the back than Lee.

“Don’t forget, Lee had already shown what he could do in the leagues before he came to Swansea, but Jason had been in Scotland and he’s had to adapt.

“Who knows, if he can keep producing these kinds of goal tallies and displays then he will be mentioned in the same breath here as Lee.

“Perhaps Jase’s laid-back attitude goes against him but he works his socks off for the side and all the players recognise that.

“We know we can put the ball up to him and he can make it stick, and with his twists and turns no one can match him. He’s got great body shape to get rid of his man and creates goals. He’s very similar to Lee in that respect.

“To get named as one of the top players in the Football League after less than a season says it all.”
