Tom played 44 times for 'Pool in a fourteen month spell before Kenny Jackett signed him for Swansea in the summer of 2006. And, after an excellent season this time around, Butler has cemented his place in the side with 6 goals this season.
And, in an interview in Saturday's match programme, he knows that it will not be easy to face his former team mates. "I had a fantastic time there, I loved playing at Hartlepool – the players, the staff, everyone there was great," he said
"One thing about Hartlepool is the atmosphere and the team spirit at the Club, it is fantastic, it's a really solid Club.
"I was really upset at having to leave but it was just one of those things you have to do in football but I did really enjoy my time there a lot.
"Obviously it is three points for us and we have to try our best now in the seven games that are left. We need to win as many as possible because this is a crucial stage of the season. Hopefully we can get a win but we know it won't be easy.
"I know my job won't be easy because I'll be up against Ritchie Humphreys as well and, knowing him, he'll be out to stop us at all costs!
I do miss the lads there though; they're a good bunch so it will be good to see them again."
