Roberto Wants To Keep Liverpool Winger

The youngster has been a real hit at Swansea this season, creating great chances and scoring plenty of goals as he has helped the Swans stand on the verge of promotion.  The only downside is he has been absent injured for the past two months after picking up an injury early in the game against Nottingham Forest – an injury that the club put down to the referee refusing to move the kick off after the team arrived late at the City Ground.

And whilst many expected Ando to return to Anfield come the end of the season, the Swansea boss has by no means giving up on extending his stay at the Liberty on what now looks almost certain to be an assault on the Championship.  "We definitely want to keep Paul beyond this season and we'll do all we can to make that happen." he told the Evening Post

"First of all we need to listen to what Rafa Benitez thinks, then we need to listen to Paul.

"We will never force anyone to stay at this club if they don't want to be here, but the way Paul has settled in it's quite clear in my eyes. Paul is definitely a Swansea City player.

"Paul's enjoyed his time here, which is a big thing, and he has improved immensely as a player.

"We want to improve as a club season after season and being able to keep someone like Paul would certainly help us do that.

"At the moment Liverpool are in the thick of their season and we are too.

"But there will be a number of ins and outs at Liverpool in the summer and Paul is someone they will have to discuss.

"We have made it very clear we'd like to have Paul here again next season, whether that's on loan or on a permanent basis

"Paul has been back up at Liverpool but we've been in daily contact with them," Martinez added.

"It's important to return to your parent club with a long-term injury like this, and it's been good for Paul being in the north near his family.

"But he has been desperate to come back to us and get playing again.

"He's back training with us and it's going to be a case of seeing how he goes this week ahead of the Bournemouth game."
