Meet The Ref – Gillingham

The referee for Saturday’s big game is Clive Penton from Sussex; he became a Football League referee in 2001. So far this season he averages just over 3 yellows per game and has issued just 2 reds.

Swansea have only won 3 of the 13 games that Clive Penton has taken charge of (one of them was against Gillingham). Mr Penton can be a very fussy ref; he once booked 7 Swansea players against Bristol City in 05/06 and sent off Tom Williams.

Clive Penton took charge of the home game against Carlisle back in September; he gave a penalty to the opposition and booked one Swansea player. The assistant referees are Carl Berry from Surrey and Ashley Slaughter from Sussex.

Stats for 07/08 season

84 Yellows,
