Martinez Set For New Swans Deal

Martinez ended a 24 year wait for the club with his sides performances this season and he has done it with a record points tally and minimal outlay on players into the bargain.

And for those factors alone the club board feel that he needs a new contract to take him beyond his current deal and it will have been music to the managers ears that Huw Jenkins believes that he is the man to lead Swansea into the promised land of the Premiership.

Almost immediately following the Swans promotion there was talk of a new deal for the manager who is one of the youngest in the Football League and has already been linked with some more high profile jobs.

Jenkins told the Western Mail We have a great rapport and I’m not worried about Roberto going anywhere else.

“He is intelligent enough to know that he is a young manager with a great career in front of him. He has got time on his hands and this season is just the start of what he can do here.

“As and when we need to talk about improving or extending his deal, it will happen.

“We think he can realise his dreams of getting the club to a higher level. And, over the next few years, we will do everything we can to help him get there.

“Roberto is definitely the right man to take this club to the Premiership.”
