Are we interested in Crystal Palace talent?

As the January window comes around larger on the horizon so does the number of links between the Swans and players with the latest on the list being Crystal Palace youngster Malcolm Ebiowei.

Ebiowei, who signed from Derby County in the summer, is also wanted back on loan by the League One outfit, whilst former Rams coach Liam Rosenior wants him at Hull City.ย  ย And now journalist Alan Nixon has added the name of Swansea City to the list of potential clubs who may look to make a move in January.

The player has featured three times in the Premier League this season for the Eagles to follow his sixteen appearances for Derby last season at Championship level before the Rams dropped to League One at the end of the season.

It’s a strange link this one as his appearances for Palace suggest that he is very much a part of their first team squad set up although there is suggestions from sources close to Selhurst Park that they could well let him leave on loan to gain more first team experience which suggests a Championship destination bringing us and Hull to the fore.

One of the issues though could be that we don’t exactly have a strong record of loaning youngsters from the Premier League under Russell Martin.ย  ย Ethan Laird was recalled by Manchester United last season whilst the lines of Rhys Williams, Finn Stevens, Armstrong Okoflex and Finley Burns have all struggled for game time in loan moves to SA1 which wont have gone unnoticed at Premier League clubs who research well before sanctioning time away for their young stars.

A secondary issues is that it is likely there will be other interest in Ebiowei when the window actually comes around.ย  ย It has been speculated in the past that there are several Championship clubs monitoring developments at Palace should they decide that a loan move is the best option.

It is genuinely difficult to see this one coming to anything but should it happen then it has to be for regular first team football and not just another player who hangs around the squad for seemingly no reason.
