Russell Martin and Jason Levien met face to face for the first time this weekend with Swans boss Russell Martin saying one of the Swans majority shareholders is happy with the progress that is being made at the Swansea.com stadium.
Levien – and fellow co-owner Steve Kaplan – have been very much strangers in SA1 since relegation from the Premier League with the interests of the ownership group largely tasked now to Jake Silverstein who was also in Swansea for the visit of Norwich this weekend.
Neither were able of course to see a Swans victory as a second minute goal from Norwich was enough to take all three points away from South Wales and put a dent in the Swans promotion hopes.ย However, with the January transfer just a few weeks away there would have been little doubt that some level of discussions would have turned to what monies maybe available for the Swans boss as he looks to build on the squad that he has available.
Martin though was not giving anything away on that front but did reveal that the owners are happy with the progress being made as he told BBC Sport Walesย “We caught up briefly before the game.
“Jake’s been here for a few days now. He’s been over a lot this season so he’s really familiar with the players and the staff which is brilliant, really helpful.
“To see Jason here as well is really nice – he’s not been here for a while I think. I’m disappointed we couldn’t get a result for him, but I hope he’s seen enough to be excited about moving forward.
“He is really happy with how it’s going and what we’re building,” added Martin.
“When we all signed up for it, we knew it was going to be a long-term thing because to play this way is not easy, it takes time. We’ve got some young men doing incredible things.
“I think him, Jake, Steve and the owners are excited about it. Hopefully they’re as excited as we are.”
