Russell Martin is a man who likes to get things done and dusted as quickly as possible and certainly without the fuss that contracts and transfers can quite often bring.
With the January window just around the corner, Martin has been keen to secure the longer term future of both Ryan Manning and Joel Latibeaudiere who he confirmed have both been offered terms to extend their stay in SA1 with both players current deals currently expiring at the end of this season.
However, he also confirmed that neither was agreeing to the contracts at this point and it is clear that this is a point of frustration for the Swans manager who admitted that there is a cut off point in reality for them to make a decision.
“At some point there’ll have to be a cut-off point where we know if they are staying or not,” said Martin via BBC Sport.
“As it stands, the players aren’t agreeing to sign contracts at this moment in time.
“There’s been offers of contracts it’s just sometimes these things take longer than you’d like them to.
“We’ll wait and see. There will be a time when I can come in and say ‘they’re not signing’ or that they are, which will be great news.
“In the meantime there’s been contracts offered and the negotiations continue.”
Canโt think of any reason why weโd offer a new contract to Latibeaudiaire- donโ teven know where we could play him.
