Wales Start On Hold For Tudur Jones

Tudur Jones is included – along with Ashley Williams – in the Wales aquad for this week's double header against Iceland (today) and Holland (Saturday)

And whilst Williams also has the first of what is tipped to be many starts under his belt the Wales manager was suggesting that it would be a little longer before the same honour was bestowed on Tudur Jones.

Jones earned his first cap in the same match as Williams – against Luxembourg in March – and he was widely tipped to earn his first start in at least one of the games this week.

And Toshack believes that Owain needs more action with Swansea under his belt before he can really be considered for a start on the International stage.

"Owain is a bright prospect,'' said Toshack.

"He came in from the Under-21s and made the move from Bangor down to Swansea. But he's been out for more than 12 months. We're not just talking about missing three or four games. These are long-term injuries.

"I know he's come back into things at Swansea late on, but again it's been over a month without a competitive game or training with the group.

"To push for a place in our side he would need to have more games with Swansea.

"But it's great to have him with us and involve him in the training over the week, to chat to him and get to know him a little bit better.

"Obviously I want all the players fit, particularly the key players, but you've got to have alternatives and the more players we get the more alternatives we have."

And Owain's constant involvement in the Welsh squad can surely only be good for us?
