Southend’s Two Week Deadline For Gower Decision

Both Steve Tilson and his assistant Paul Brush have stated that they need the player to make a decision sooner rather than later with Brush wanting a decision within a couple of weeks.

"An offer has been made to Mark Gower and we've got to try and pull that together now over the next couple of weeks." Brush told the official Southend website

"We need to set a deadline though otherwise we could be hanging on forever.

"We need to know what we're looking for replacement-wise, so we'll need an answer from him pretty soon.

"A good contract has been put in front of him and we hope he stays here to be a part of how we want to push on."

Steve Tilson though was a little more direct in his comments and said he would be surprised if the player completed the move at this stage of his career

"I've seen that Swansea have said they're interested and that's how it goes in football," Tilson said.

"Mark's away on holiday in America at the moment and we will be talking to him when he gets back.

"You never know what's going to happen, but I would be surprised if Mark would want to move all the way there at this stage of his career."
