Ferrie Could Stay At Swansea?

Bodde looked set for the Swans exit door as he handed in a request for "personal reasons" with interest in his services coming from Sunderland, Derby, Reading, Charlton and others.

There were also increasing rumours that Bodde could be used in a cash plus player deal including Derby and Lewis Nyatanga – something that would make sense amongst reports of a 50% sell on clause due to Bodde's former club Den Haag.

However, Roberto believes that Ferrie could remain at Swansea next season, telling the Western Mail “Ferrie has got two years left on his contract. He is a player we want to keep and we are in a position where we don’t have to sell.

“So I don’t need to talk about any offers for him. I want him to remain and I believe he will be a big part of Swansea’s future.

“Ferrie is a great professional and, when I saw him in Holland recently, he was happy. I told him he should be aiming to get in Holland’s World Cup squad and we can help him with that.

“The Championship is the next test for him and I’m confident he will be a success. Our priority is to make sure Ferrie is enjoying his football so that we can get the best out of him."

The Swans have always suggested that they will not sell for less than their valuation of the player but rumours of Ferrie's unhappiness in Swansea suggest that he will not be here next season but that is clearly not a view that Roberto is taking.   Not yet anyway.
