Jenkins Hits Back At Derby Claims

Bodde has been the subject of transfer interest from Derby with the Swans holding out for £2m for the midfielder they signed last summer with Derby seemingly willing to pay less than half of that.

And that led Derby manager Paul Jewell to state that the Swans should be "sensible" over their valuation of the player hinting that they were looking for a figure that in no way matches the players worth.

But Swans Chairman Huw Jenkins hit back by telling the Evening Post We believe we are being very sensible

"While we take on board other clubs' opinions, the fact remains that Ferrie is our player and we can ask for whatever size fee we like.

"£2million is not a lot when you consider Aaron Ramsey is apparently going to Arsenal for £5million.

"You wonder how many games he's going to play for them, yet Ferrie could go and play at that level tomorrow, so £2million is cheap.

"Our stance remains the same on Ferrie – until someone meets our valuation for him, he will not be going anywhere."

Privately you suspect that the Swans board are seething over Derby's very public chasing of the player who they gave a break to in the English game and their manner of believing that they can secure his services on the cheap.

The message to Derby remains a very simple one – cough up or shut up.
