Albert Serran and Mark Gower look certain to be two of them with the third being a continental name as seems the norm with Swansea these days.
Defender Serran and midfielder Gower have long since been linked with moves to the Liberty Stadium and both look set to complete these this week – Serran will add more depth to a much strengthened defence already whilst Gower looks set to be the replacement for Andy Robinson who departed for Leeds United at the end of his contract.
"We have got very strong core to our squad, but we need to add to that with players who bring something different," Martinez said.
"We're looking to do that with the new signings we're making and we're hopeful of finalising another three very soon."
The name of the third remains a closely guarded secret at the moment although you suspect that a look around the Spanish websites with a translator would again reveal something that we don't know already!
Gower has been talking to Swansea in recent weeks with Southend last week confident that the player would stay but now it appears that Steve Tilson is less confident and that the player could be on his way to South Wales.
"I'm expecting to hear back from Mark before the end of the week but I really don't know if he's going to stay," Tilson said. "We've made him a good offer to stay, the best we can afford in actual fact, and I hope he stays because he's an excellent player.
"But I know he's been talking to a Championship club and he is weighing up his options.
"At this stage of his career, if he gets a better offer from a club at a higher level, then it's something he may go for.
"He's having a think about what is a big decision for him but we couldn't have done any more to keep him here."
The Championship squad continues to take shape.
