Monk Sure Swans Could Overcome Ferrie Loss

Bodde is reportedly desperate to be allowed to leave and join Derby in a near £2m deal but the Swans are yet to state whether they want to accept the offer made by the Pride Park outfit.

Bodde was an influential part of the Swans midfield last season, scoring goals at regular intervals as the Swans rose to the League One title earning this season's crack at the Championship in the process.

But that has not been enough to keep Bodde happy as a busy agent has turned his head with reported offers of £8k per week from the worst Premiership side in history which has meant that Bodde may be unlikely to stay for next season.

But losing the midfielder is not a concern for Monk, who echoed Swansea's general belief on this that they would like him to stay but they can cope with his absence if it comes to that.

Speaking to the Evening Post, Monk said "I've spoken to Ferrie a couple of times over the summer and he wasn't sure what his situation was

"Hopefully we can keep him, but most of the time money talks.

"If we keep Ferrie great. These transfers happen every year in football, it's just a shame that Derby can afford to splash so much cash because of Premiership parachute payments.

"If we do lose Ferrie then I'm sure the manager will be other players brought in to replace him."
