Hollins’ Search Ends

…..John Williams. Remember him, he was here 10 years ago when we signed him from Cradley Heath and he was expressed and crowned the fastest player in the league. Well, anyway he’s back and now we should rejoice.
Well, that’s what they would like us to do. But John Williams? Does anyone really believe that is the answer?
Here is a man that did a good job for us for one year 10 years ago. Since then he has not settled anywhere which tends to suggest that he isn’t really that good after all?
He has had SIX clubs in the past four years alone. Two of them last season – York and Darlington. If he was any good would either of these two teams let him go? I doubt it.
So, in those 1,122 days John Hollins has now bought us permanent signings in Tommy Mutton, Andrew Mumford, David Romo, Walter Boyd and John Williams. Two of those 5 have gone already so this one hardly fills you with confidence now does it?
Don’t get me wrong, when Williams was here first I liked him but that was 1991. It’s now 2001, football is a different game and he is not what we need.
So if you want to go out there and celebrate this one then please do feel free. I won’t be I know that much.
You can picture the smug look on Hollins’ face when he lines up for the usual cheesy photos with Williams later on. You will be able to see his mind thinking ‘this’ll prove the doubters wrong’ If that’s what he thinks then he is a loser.
Three years and he comes up with an almost has-been. Obviously, believing that he can find something in Williams that none of his 6 managers in the last 4 years has been able to. Go on then John, you do that mate.
This stinks of desperation and I urge everyone not to be fooled by it.
