Hollins Striker Search?

JackArmy.net narrows down the options for you with the list of all the players in the Scottish League that reached this figure last season.
Surprisingly, there were only seven players in the Scottish League that reached that magical milestone, with none bar Henrik Larsson reaching more than 25 goals. Of course, Larsson and his 55 goals can be discounted straight away unless this is another one of those ‘we couldn’t agree personal terms’ stories that we have heard so much about over the past 3 years.
David Bingham plays in Midfield for Livingston and notched 20 goals last season. In his Livingston career he has notched 53 goals in 118 full appearances which is a decent enough strike record but I cannot believe that he would swap a season in the Scottish Premier League for the Nationwide 3rd unless he feels that Livingston are in for a tough time, which they undoubtedly are.
Dennis Wyness was the leading scorer in the Scottish 1st Division last season with 25 goals. Having previously played for Aberdeen, there must be something in him and he seems a more likely option than Bingham and maybe feels that he cannot go any further at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
Peter Weatherson topped the charts in the second division with 21 goals. It was his first season at Queen of The South and he notched the goals in 39 games. Speculation is that he has attracted a lot of interest from scouts North of the and is set for a move away but Hibs and European football are also said to be interested.
At Brechin, Roddy Grant scored 25 goals last term and possibly suits the Hollins age-target as he will be 35 in September. Considering he has always played in Scotland, it seems unlikely that a move to South Wales would be of any interest to him.
Dumbarton’s Paddy Flannery scored 21 last season and has a goal ratio of around 1 in every 2 games. He has a contract as Dumbarton but could seek a move elsewhere. One of the most likeliest candidates?
Finally, at Hamilton we have David Macfarlane. Last season he started 33 matches and scored 24 goals which included three hat-tricks. He is still only 22 and Accies fans believe that he he set for the bigger stage. Is the Vetch Field a bigger stage? Hmmm…..
So there you have it, the six candidates, one of which is an alleged target of John Hollins. Well, seven if you count Henrik Larsson but let’s get real.
In our opinion, the most likely of the candidates are Peter Weatherson (although he is more likely to move to the SPL given the chance), Paddy Flannery or David Macfarlane.
