Monday July 30

Released the Aussie player today. I watched something on TV last night that they gave us ‘Neighbours’ and ‘Home and Away’ so I decided he should be punished for that. The silly part is I believe his ancestors were Scottish as they had their own island – the isle of Arranz.

Tuesday July 31

Alan said to me that it was Bury at the Vetch tonight so I bought my dog along as he loves digging for bones and should win quite comfortably. It took Alan quite a while to explain to me that Bury are a football team and we were supposed to play them. We actually won the game 1-0 but the reports said 1-1 with the goal scored in stoppage time. If the game has stopped how come the goal counted? We are still unbeaten in pre-season if you forget Barry and Tiverton. And of course Newport. I still think we can win all our pre-season games and that will be my aim.

Wednesday August 1

That Mr Lewis is getting more clever by the minute. Today he was in a newspaper saying that he had asked Catherine Zeta-Jones to invest into the club. He really is a man full of ideas. He has also been very clever in saying that he wants to keep his job when new people come in. I presume that he is also trying to keep my job. With us two at the helm, this club is in a strong position and I have nearly the same clothes as I had won we won the championship.

Thursday August 2

Another game tonight. This time we beat Port Talbot 2-0. They are a nice friendly lot, our strikers were not able to get the ball in the net so one of them helped us out. I may get my players to do that next season, it shows that sportsmanship isn’t dead just yet.

Friday August 3

Mr Lewis has been saying that some people are saying they want a boycott for Sunday. As I explained to him the only one I know used to play cricket for England and I expect that he will be at the test match watching that game. However, I have got the phone book out and there are a few boycotts in there so I will see what I can do for him.

Saturday August 4

The Reggae Boyz are here. I briefly mentioned to Alan that I would have preferred us to play a football team rather than a band but he said Mr Lewis knew what he was doing. I was just looking through the squad list for next season and saw that we have a Keegan on the books. I shall play him alot next season although I may insist that he gets rid of that perm first.

Sunday August 5

We played Jamaica at the Vetch. Quite appropriate according to Alan that the Vetch is a kind of weed – I think he is going a little mad, I shall have to speak to him about that. We had to delay kick-off as there was an accident on the M4, the delay didn’t really work as several thousand Jamaican fans still failed to make it to the Vetch. We drew the game 1-1 but the referee said that it was 1-0 to them but I’m sure that nice Mr Cusack scored.
