PREVIEW Well, that was summer. England lost the Ashes in record time, Britain failed to find a Wimbledon winner yet again and Manchester United splashed out more cash than ever before. Oh, and even John Hollins signed a few players while the Swans got sold for รยฃ1. You certainly can’t say it’s been a quiet summer. Last season was a disappointment, and that is possibly putting it mildly, but, hopefully it is all in the past as we return to the basement division with ‘almost the same squad as we had when we won the championship’ But is that almost going to be good enough? John Hollins seems likely to hand debuts to his two new foreign imports, Nicolas Mazzina and Mamady Sidebe while the returning John Williams is likely to start on the bench despite his two goals at Haverfordwest in the last pre-season game. Lee Jenkins has shown he is a capable right-back and will continue there for the opening game whilst either Chris Todd or Jason Smith will partner Kris O’Leary at the centre of the Swans defence. Macclesfield prepared for the new season with five additions at the beginning of the week and a couple of them are expected to line-up on Saturday. There has been much hype from John Hollins and his staff this summer that we can get promoted again and the bookie are backing those odds up. Some of the fans feel differently. Once thing that we know for certain is that, the time for talking has now passed and it’s the actions on the pitch that count. Can we see a Swansea victory in this game? Sadly, the Crystal Ball says no. Macclesfield 2 Swansea 0. |
