Davies joins up at Tottenham Hotspur?

Whilst there were several reports in the past week that suggested Chris Davies was the Swans’ preferred choice to replace Russell Martin at the club, it appeared yesterday that we may have missed out on Davies who seems set to be part of Ange Postecoglou’s staff in North London.

The claim was made by Mike McGrath from the Tepegraph who says that Davies, along with another alleged Swansea target Ryan Mason, will both be part of the backroom staff for the incoming new Spurs boss.

The news comes on the day where it looked like Brendan Rodgers was set to be reappointed Celtic boss but very early reports suggested Davies would not be with him which intensified some of the speculation that he was to be heading towards SA1.ย  ย That dream though seems to be over now with the target becoming part of what appears to be a rebuilding process at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Of course the Swans current position is not helped by the fact that, strictly speaking, we still have a manager although of course we know that Martin wants out and even if compensation cannot be agreed with Southampton it is inconceivable that there is any way back for Martin in SA1.ย  ย The need to move Martin on – as is his desire – is bigger every day so that we can move on and work on the appointment of a new manager to replace him.

Davies though it seems will not be that man although the official confirmation of his position at Spurs is not yet out there but the press speculation is very much that he has decided to be part of a backroom team as opposed to becoming a manager in his own right.

This will come as a blow to the Swans, assuming he was at the top of our priority list as suggested but there has also been reports that we have other targets lined up and Davies was one of three of four people that we had identified to become Martin’s successor.

So with luck we are not so much back to the drawing board but moving attention to a different one of those targets.ย  ย Or at least we will when we lose our current manager!

  1. That’s what you get when word gets around that the club is owned by goons.the sooner this is sorted the better.looks like we gna have the dregs of manager and players.but that’s the norm these days with the swans.
