Roger Freestone Interview

A Good Kick In The Baltics

I Remember When

GM: Do you every want to go anywhere else, other than Swansea City?

SR: There were a few scouts in the area at the time, but with being a local lad, living at home, training twice a week on a Monday and Wednesday, it was easy for me just to stay at home with my parents and improve my game from there.

It’s gone mad for me ever since. It’s a good lifestyle, I couldn’t imagine leaving school and going to a job really.

GM: When you started watching the Swans who was in the team?

SR: It was a long time ago! John Cornforth, Colin Pascoe, Leggy. I was on the North Bank, or sometimes in the East Stand. I used to go with my father in the week and my mates on a Saturday. I understand what it’s like to be in the crowd on the North Bank – especially on big occasion games like the West Ham and Exeter games last season.
