Addison sent the team out with a 3-5-2 formation with Roberts playing as a wing back and Jenkins in centre along side Phillips and Coates, O’Leary, Todd and Bound made up the defence, with Williams up front with Sidibe. |

| Halifax started the brighter but both teams offered little going forward in the early stages. The only chance that comes to mind was a header from the six yard area which was easily saved by Freestone. The visitors took the lead on 25 minutes with the help of some poor defending. Willams long throw was cleared to Harsley who rounded Todd with ease and passed the ball past Freestone who could have done better. How Harsley was left one on one with Todd was beyond me. | ||||
| The swans then had more bad news as Sidibe went off in what looked a bad injury. He was replaced by Mumford who went into centre midfield as Jenkins switched to wing back with Roberts joining Willams up front. Mumford did make a difference as his long pass released Howard but the wing back’s cross was disappointing. Roberts then went on a good run and ignored the calls of Coates to play it in to him, instead his left footed shot was just wide. Phillips then burst into the area but his effort was blocked. The half time whistle went and the swans were trailing. | ||||
| The disappointing crowd of 3974 had nothing to sing about in the second have has the swans showed signs of the performances against the likes of Oxford and Bournemouth last season. The second half couldn’t have got off to worse start as after just two minutes Harsley got his second. Yet again bad defending and even poor goalkeeping! was to blame. Another long ball sent Harsley through, Roger had a rush of blood and came racing of his line and the Halifax striker knocked it passed him and finished in corner of the net despite the efforts of Phillips on the line. Phillips then was taken off and replaced by De-vulgt. I have no idea of the formation at this point because the swans were all over the place. | ||||
| Halifax were now sitting on their lead and the swans showed no signs of breaking them down. Roberts turned well on the edge of the box but his cross shot went wide. Swansea has plenty of the ball but seemed unable to create any thing. Only half chances for Willams and Roberts right at the end were worth talking about. Appleby came on late on but didn’t have enough time to impress. The swans left the field to a sound of boos as the fans showed their displeasure at the performance. Summary. The swans were poor in defence and terrible going forward. They failed to put together any decent passing moves. Colin Addison has a lot of work to do if he his to turn things around. It would be unfair to make a judgment on one game and the new management team must be given time. I am one who knows the swans can play a lot better then that. Man of the match-Not Freestone, how the sponsors give it to him I will never know. But I will not blame him as he was left exposed by the defence. For effort it was Roberts who did try and looked our most dangerous player. | ||||
| The swans have two tough trips against Scunthorpe and Hull coming up in the next week. They desperately need results or the chances of launching a promotion push would look unlikely. I still have some hope for this season because once Addison has had some time with the players I think we will see an improvement. | ||||
