Will Cabango feature against Swindon Town?

The Swans play another behind closed doors friendly today when they welcome Michael Flynn’s Swindon Town to South West Wales to continue their pre-season plans.

After a win over Haverfordwest and a draw with Brondby, Flynn himself confirmed the friendly last weekend as he faces Championship opposition twice in a row – Bristol City follow us against the Robins this week.

Speaking after Swindonโ€™s 5-0 victory at Southern League Division One South Melksham last weekend, Swindon boss Flynn said: โ€œWeโ€™ve got Swansea now on Saturday โ€“ so thatโ€™s going to be tough, we know that โ€“ and then weโ€™ve got Bristol City.

โ€œThe way [the schedule] has worked out, weโ€™re starting with a lot of possession. In the next couple of games, we might not have as much possession.

โ€œIt gives me and Wayne [Hatswell โ€“ assistant manager] a really good chance to look at both sides of the game โ€“ in possession and out of possession.

โ€œSo far, so good in pre-season, but letโ€™s have a look. The quality of Swansea and Bristol City is going to be a lot better than what weโ€™ve faced already.โ€

One of the unanswered questions from the midweek game against Brondby was the absence of Ben Cabango from the line up just days after he featured in the win against Haverfordwest.

It would well be cautionary absence (and we hope that it is) but it did spark some transfer speculation especially after Cabango was linked with a move to Southampton just a couple of weeks back.ย  There has though – thankfully – been no news of any formal approaches for the welsh international so we assume, or is that hope, that his absence is indeed precautionary.

There will definitely be half an eye on the line ups for today’s game when they are announced and whilst the game is behind closed doors it will be the name of Cabango that will bring a sigh of relief to Swans fans if it appears.

We hope it will be there anyway!

  1. Letโ€™s hope Martin hoodwinks his new bosses and charms them sufficiently to demand ott top $++.

Cabango makes far too many unforced errors for a manager of Duffโ€™s quality who values efficiency and effectiveness above all else, especially at the back.

Duff will have his targets for solidifying our spine – GK is sorted, CF is sorted, CB imminent, CM (tbd)

  2. Apart from Cabango where is Liam Walsh In the few appearances for the Swans last season he showed a lot of promise, but cameo appaerances are not enough!!!!!
Where is he during pre season?

  3. A huge blow if Ben goes but if he does it must be to a premier league or one of the better overseas sides for his own personal development.
That said, he has consistently been our quotes across all rating sites as our highest value player.
I expect the usual numpties who canโ€™t see quality will be pleased if he leaves and weakens the side โ€ฆ they can also moan even more about lack of ambition and ‘greedy Yanks’.
