Five star Swans brush aside Swindon Town in friendly

Swansea City were comprehensive 5-0 winners in their latest pre-season friendly with Josh Thomas (2), Liam Cullen, Joel Piroe and Nathan Wood the scorers as Michael Duff’s side made it look easy against their League Two opponents.

Add to the result and there was a first outing for new signing Jerry Yates who was given 30 minutes in the first half and a return for Ben Cabango which should put aside any doubt that his absence on Tuesday was for precautionary reasons only.

Michael Duff again took the chance to field many of his squad with a host of changes in the second half as the goals kept flowing after Wood opened the scoring shortly before the break when he finished a pull back from Josh Key.

Piroe made it two early in the second half when he found the corner of the net after being played in by Paterson whilst Thomas added a third shortly after after running onto a Fulton pass.

Thomas turned provider to Cullen before he finished the scoring and add the 5th for the Swans on what would have been a pleasing afternoon for Michael Duff with the new season now just three weeks away from the season opener.

Swansea City Starting XI: Fisher, Key(Joe Thomas 45), Wood, Naughton, B. Cooper, Abdulai, Grimes, Fulton, Paterson, Piroe, Yates (Josh Thomas 30)

Swans line up (60 minutes): Webb, Joe Thomas, Darling, Cabango, Lissah, Lloyd, Cotterill, O. Cooper, Ntcham, Josh Thomas, Cullen.

  1. New, young bloods growing greatly in confidence. Swans can do it al again provided best olayers are not traded for a few dollars more. Duff can really get these swans to take off, if he is given as much time to build the team as some other less able managers were allowed..
