According to media reports in Turkey, Olivier Ntcham is due in Istanbul on Wednesday after an agreement to sign the midfielder was agreed with the Swans.

In a Twitter link this afternoon VTR Spor reports that a deal has been reached between Swansea City and Samsunspor who have just been promoted to the Turkish Super Lig.

With only twelve months left on Ntcham’s deal it was always anticipated that a move to extend the player’s contract or a transfer out could be on the cards.

A regular goalscoring threat since his arrival from Celtic in 2021, the fee suggested for Ntcham’s signature is around ยฃ1.75m with the club desperate to avoid another Ryan Manning scenario.

Three new players are anticipated to arrive tomorrow but if today’s reports are to be believed then an attacking midfielder will undoubtedly be required in the imminent future.

A goalscoring threat from midfield is always a difficult commodity to find but with Ntcham nearing double figures last campaign it leaves a decent gap in the squad should the move materialise.

“Samsunspor reached an agreement with Olivier Ntcham, who plays for Swansea.

  1. He drives us forward .Different from anyone else we have .Really came into his own when Martin started playing him in his proper position .Powerful man

  2. Always a threat when at his best, and started really well in pre-sason. I suppose anything around 1.5 million would be good business but will we find a better replacement if the money is re-invested. I’m not so sure.

  3. Good business really , we’ve got some good young players in that position maybe it’s time for them to show us what they can do ntchams form was hot and cold , somtimes brilliant other times invisible never the less i wish him well.

  4. Manning, piroe, Obafemi, Latibeaudiere and now Ntcham. Just name a single new signing that can be considered a better replacement of the departed. In my opinion no one. I think, we will play the season with the aim to survive in the championship.

  5. It does open up possibities for Academy stars to prove that they can handle Championship level. Oli , Liam x2, and also Cameron, did emerge, and they and others have to do it on the field now, given a chance. I agree with John Joe.

  6. Ntcham is a very creative and skilful player who will be difficult to replace. I agree that academy players like Congreve, Cotterell, Liam Smith etc should be given their chances, but the Championship is tough and there are no guarantees they will be successful so I think we need to find an experienced replacement with the youngsters filtered in to the team over the season. I regularly watch the Academy games and there are lots รฒf really promising players for the future, but how many will prove good enough for the Premiership or Championship ?
