Ntcham N’gone – Olivier officially leaves – fee rumoured to be “minimal”

The Swans have officially confirmed the departure of Olivier Ntcham just a day after he made his debut for Turkish side Samsunspor.

Ntcham was a pretty regular sight in the team during the pre-season games but his fate was effectively sealed when he refused to play for the Swans in the season opener against Birmingham and was pictured ready to leave the country at Heathrow Airport just a day later.

The talent of Ntcham has never really been in doubt but it has long since been the consistency and professionalism of the player which has been called into doubt.ย  Many pointed out during his time here that if he applied himself consistently then he would play at the highest level but he was playing at our level because of an inability to have that application.

The statement on the club website told us very little with the club wording readingย “Swansea City can can confirm midfielder Olivier Ntcham has left the club,” the Championship side said on their website.

“All regulatory paperwork required to be submitted by Swansea City regarding the player’s exit has now been completed.”

Notably there was no mention of a fee but rumours suggest that it has been very minimal although those same rumours suggest that his departure will free up a decent chunk of money on our wage bill with Ntcham amongst the highest earners at the club.

He played 86 minutes on his debut for Samsunspor in a 1-1 Super Lig draw at Sivasspor

  1. Big loss the way he played during the second half of last season when Martin played him in his best position .Strong and powerful he could drive us forward .Something we desperately needed when so many players were happy to pass the ball sideways or backwards.
He was also ready to shoot when so many look for the extra pass.
Whatever the circumstances of him leaving he coul have been a big player for us.

  2. Ntcham’s situation was very clear for me at least…..a case of ability v attitude.
Attitude (application) should always be the foundation, and in his case, it wasn’t.
