Swans to swoop for Spanish midfielder?

Swansea City are being tipped to sign Celta Vigo midfielder Miguel Baeza on a season long loan from Spain according to media reports in Spain.

The attacking midfielder who can also play left wing has returned to Spain following a loan spell at Rio Ave in Portugal where he played 22 games in the Primera League.

The Portuguese team were hoping to agree a similar deal this term but were thwarted by an embargo leaving the midfielder seeking first team opportunities elsewhere away from Rafa Benitez’s side.

At 23 years old, Baeza is looking to make a name for himself in European football after coming through the ranks at Real Madrid as a youngster.

Baeza was being linked with a move to Sheffield Wednesday again on loan but it seems that the Swans have stolen a march on their Championship rivals to secure the Spanish midfielder.

Michael Duff has made no secret of his desire to add further left footed options to his team and with creativity sorely lacking so far, a number 10 type player would seem a logical addition.

  1. Sounds like us .Sell Piroe for 12million and get a loaneevfrom Spain with no experience of British football .
If he comes heโ€™s going to enjoy A trip to Middlesbro on a Tuesday night

  2. This time theyโ€™ve got a week to vome up with some money .With Joe Rodon it was all too late .Interesting to see how it plays out.
Iโ€™ll be amazed if we pay serious money for anyone

  3. With all thatโ€™s going on in the club at the moment – players in players out – players not fit ,some with little pre- season, several inexperienced loanees – it is going to be extremely difficult to go to Preston and perform.
We need to get beyond this period and settle as quickly as possible .

  4. Yes, I agree with your comments in relation to players not fit and some having little pre-season game time. It will take time to settle and get improved results. However, this situation was created because of the delay in the change of managers – Martin to Southhapton. This could and should have been avoided and would have given Duff more time to assemble a more effective squad to be more competative. It seems that the Yanks put our football on hold for a very small amount of money. Those who blame Duff for our current low points need to think how crucial this mindless stance has had on our current season.
