Are the Swans looking at Bidwell? Defender set to leave Coventry City?

The name of Jake Bidwell would be a surprise arrival at the Swansea.com Stadium this summer should it happen but it is a move not being ruled out at the Mirror Group who fully expect to see him leave Coventry before the window closes tonight.

Bidwell made just over 100 appearances for the Swans in a two and a half year spell in SA1 before he left during the January 2022 window to join Coventry where he almost won promotion to the Premier League last year.

The links emerged yesterday with Sunday Mirror journalist Darren Witcoop suggesting that the Swans could not be ruled out for a move for the left back.

Bidwell has played just 12 minutes of Championship football so far this season after losing his place to summer signing Jay Dasilva, but after an impressively solid and consistent 2022/23 campaign is highly thought of by Sky Blues boss Mark Robins.

Bidwell was reported to be close to leaving in January when Birmingham showed an interest in him and he was likely to be leave but Coventry could not at that point complete a move for Dasilva.ย  ย Preston have also been linked but those links have gone quiet during the window.

Coventry live does report that they do not think Robins will let Bidwell go unless the player is keen to move and with the Swans keen on strengthening on the left side then this is a move that you could see happening although its far from guaranteed.

  1. lo think this is just someone seeing we are looking for a LB and have made an assumption on zero info. I think it’s bunk. Can’t see it happening.
