Last Night’s Meeting

Four speakers took to the floor – Reeco himself, Lee Wallis, Mike Kent and Lorraine Corbett All gave speeches on how this club should survive well into the 21st century and gave differing reasons on what we could do.

Lee Wallis has kindly given us his speech for those that were not there to read. I’ll leave you in Lee’s words…..

“Some 90 years ago, on the 14th of June 1912 a meeting was held at the royal hotel to see the birth of league football in the city by the pioneer of the swans jack w Thorpe.

His vision was to have a club competing in the highest standard of football in the country, and since then we have seen this proud club top the highest league and grace Wembley stadium. Thousands of local people and those from further a field have contributed to the support and running of this city’s football team to make it the institution it is, churning out a vast array of famous internationals far too many to mention here tonight.

Now we see ourselves at a very different meeting nearly a century on, fighting for the survival of arguably one of the most successful teams Wales has ever seen.

now I could go into all the ins and outs of Petty’s despotic regime, but that has been done in the last few weeks as i am sure you have all seen. We are all sure that this parasite is not here for the good of our club, as he has zero to contribute, and clearly sees the Morfa as a money making venture.

So this brings me to the reason why we are here tonight. What can we do you may ask? Well, individually not a lot, but as a unit i am sure we can put a great deal of pressure on the hierarchy at the club. I am sure as Reeco has told you we can involve the media with protest .but I also think that pressure on sponsors and contributors will have a telling affect on the finances of Mr Petty and force him to leave sooner rather than later. You can do this in letter form, e-mail, or a simple phone call to let them know (politely) that you oppose their support of the current board and not the club itself, and that you would prefer not to use their services if they continue to contribute to Mr Petty’s funds but would wholeheartedly support them once either he is removed or they withdraw funding.

Also don’t buy match programmes, food or beverages inside the vetch, believe me it will all add up.

Be in no doubt, that while harming the club under its present owner you will not be responsible for its demise, because there are people waiting in the wings who have worked tirelessly on the legal aspects of acquiring the club, be it put into administration.

We can not let people keep on looking at this club as solely a money making venture, it is an integral part of the community in which we live, and I know as surely you do that it has to be run on a self sufficient basis by people who want it to be a success ,not out of monetary gain, but for the pride and enjoyment of the people of Swansea and west Wales itself. Mel nurse and his consortium are those people, people who are willing to put a substantial amount of their own money in (not like the cockney wide boy and the alcoholic kid) and try and make something out of this terrible situation that all the previous money men have put us in .So please show your support to them, write to your MP’s, the council, and even the judge who was taken in by this conman, and let them know your concerns and your support for the newco consortium.

Finally, I would like to thank reeco for asking me to speak, and you for your support by turning up together we can beat these guttersnipes, as Churchill once said WHAT IS OUR AIM?…….VICTORY, VICTORY AT ALL COSTS, VICTORY HOWEVER LONG AND HARD THE ROAD MAY BE; FOR WITHOUT VICTORY THERE IS NO SURVIVAL.”
