Cabango could be an absentee for club and country

If there was to be a downside for last night then it would be seen as the fact that the Swans potentially lost another defender to injury when Ben Cabango was forced off during the second half of the win over Norwich City.

Cabango was replaced by Josh Tymon who slotted in at left back as Humphreys moved more into the middle with Cabango heading back to the dressing room for an assessment of the injury.

And Michael Duff admitted after the game that there was a chance that the Wales international could miss the midweek clash at Plymouth and that could also force him out of the international games against Gibraltar and Croatia.

The extent of Cabango’s injury will be assessed this morning but with Nathan Wood and Kristian Pedersen already on the sidelines Duff will hope that it is not too bad to keep Cabango out long term even if it does mean he needs to keep his closing back four last night for the weekend clash at Home Park.

“We don’t know bad it is,” said Duff. “He felt it in the first half. The pleasing thing is it’s not gone bang, so it might be a bit of cramp, it might be a bit of fatigue. He has done the right thing coming off.

“After Saturday there is an international break and Ben will be desperate to go away and represent his country, but obviously if he’s not fit at the weekend, it’s probably unlikely that he will be going away because he will be deemed as injured. Hopefully it’s just a sensation rather than anything untoward.”
