Leicester City also have their share of injury challenges ahead of the return to Championship football this season as manager Enzo Maresca shared some long term injury updates ahead of their visit to the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
It has been a good start to management for Maresca who has seen his side win ten of their first eleven league games of the season but as they look to continue that form in South West Wales this weekend they must make some selections without key performers in their squad.
The Swans themselves of course have our share of injuries with Nathan Wood, Joe Allen and Josh Ginnelly all out with long term injuries and Ben Cabango remaining an injury doubt for the weekend as we look to build on an impressive run of form that saw us win four on the bounce ahead of the international break.
From a Leicester perspective they will be without Kasey McAteer, Callum Doyle and Dennis Praet whilst Tom Cannon has yet to appear for the club following his summer signing with Cannon of course a player that the Swans were linked with back in the summer.
McAteer has scored five goals in all competitions for the Foxes this season but will not return for the weekend clash with Maresca saying “We are unhappy because he was doing very well. He is a great guy, happy and hungry. It’s a shame for him. It’s just for six weeks, but probably it’s a good time for him to have some rest after a good start. He will be back soon with us.”
Doyle is unlikely to return before the New Year with the Leicester boss adding “I said in the press conference before Liverpool that he is the only player, being left-footed… We have been unlucky.
“We have Wilfred and Cesare, Kiernan and Yunus, Jamie and Kele, Abdul, Macca, Stephy, Marc, many wingers, but in that position, he was the only one, so we have been unlucky. We will try to find a solution. Against Liverpool, JJ did very well, the same against Bristol City. He could be a solution.”
Leicester should have striker Kelechi Iheanacho available for selection after he left the Nigerian international camp for “personal reasons”
