Home >Story Index> Investment From Anywhere?

So, let’s have a look at the two things in order. The reporting of news. I am a firm believer that news – good or bad should be reported. The club is reportedly heading into a new era of openness and honesty and this has to be welcomed. It’s been sadly missing for the last god knows how long and this is a big step forward for our club.
However, with openness and honesty comes the fact that news will be reported that is not necessarily what people want to hear. For the record, I think Colin Addison has done a decent job in nigh on impossible circumstances. For someone that was never a fan of John Hollins (even in May 2000) I appreciate what Addison has done with the hand he as dealt. Colin will of course be judged on the final league position but I have full confidence that the conference trap door will be firmly locked shut come 22 April.
For the record, Keith did not report that Barnes had been in touch with the consortium and Dave Morgan has confirmed this part. It said that he was keeping an eye on events at Swansea City something which is fact. He also wanted initially to bring Andy Legg to the club but was advised against it and that it would not happen.
Sorry, but it was part of the story and needed to be printed. I fail to see that this deserved the slating that it got especially when you consider that there was a post on Gary Martin’s guestbook the other day slating Addison. Essentially, these two things are the same. Andy Legg here as manager fills me with as much dread as those that criticised the article.
The final element of the article that seemed to bring panic into all and sundry was the use of that dreaded word Cardiff. Which brings me onto the second point of this article – where will we take investment from?
Barnes is a Cardiff City fan. Shall we start panicking now. Well, probably not a good idea to seeing as since the original articles are now irrelevant as it seems that Barnes will not be investing and to be honest, that is a good thing but not because he is a Cardiff City fan.
I am pretty sure that the Mel Nurse consortium will take investment from anywhere. I’m sure that someone there could confirm that fact but does it matter if the money has a Cardiff postmark IF it is for the good of the club? I don’t believe it is. Of course, if a Cardiff fan says “here’s ร‚ยฃ500,000 but you have to play in the League of Wales to get it” then it goes without saying that we do not want it, nor do we need it.
But if a Cardiff fan comes forward and says “Here is ร‚ยฃ500,000 no strings attached, I just don’t want to see you die” is there a problem? I think not personally. Why does it matter if he is a Cardiff City fan IF he has the best interests of the club in what he is doing?
Of course, no longer are we talking about Barnes but generically. Let’s not get hysterical because someone wants to pump money into the football club. We are in too much trouble for that. We are not a football club that can afford to turn away investors left right and centre but you can be rest assured that the people that do invest will only be allowed to because it is for the best of the football club. You know that and we know that. And, of course we knew that when the article was written.
Just remember who broke the news of many many events in this football club in the last six months. Nothing goes on this site without being checked for accuracy. I have many e-mails on my desk that were not printed because accuracy is in doubt so please credit us with some sense on what we are doing.
JackArmy.net fully supports the efforts of this consortium to get us back onto our feet and we provide them with a further outlet to broadcast the news and views of the fans. The fans that of course are the most important element of this football club.
My view is that good or bad, the news needs to be said and that we should be in a position to take investment from anywhere with the proviso that the only winner is Swansea City Football Club.
