On that date Roger Freestone was signed for Swansea by Frank Burrows (told you I liked the man) and since then (in my opinion) Swansea have had the best goalkeeper in the Nationwide. Did any of you get the answer, for those of you who didn’t you should have bought Rogers book Another day at the office (how that for advertising not bad a Phil?) I have heard it said in the last few months that Roger is slowing up, that he’s not as good as he was and that we are paying him too much? Well I can’t comment on his apparent overpayment that’s between Roger and the club. But as for his supposed slowing down and not being as good I think this theory was quashed on Friday night in the game against Hull. I am sure you all agree that this match had a spectacular Performance by Roger. Now lets be reasonable, Roger (from time to time) makes mistakes (Well he is human isn’t he?), but don’t you feel he makes up for those mistakes with his experience, by stopping the goals that inexperienced (and lesser) goalkeepers let in.Well the time is creeping up on us when Roger is going to have to hang up his boots so what are we going to do then? Whoever comes after Roger will have some big boots to fill. I can hear the uproar now to fetch Roger back. Now comes the question who do we get instead? Will it be Jason Jones our reserve keeper? I’ve seen Jason a few times and he seems o.k. (The save he made against the Jamaican’s squad was magnificent). Given a few first team games I feel he could do o.k. I also saw someone a few weeks ago who impressed me (although it was the only game I saw him in) it was Lincoln town’s Alan Marriot the 24 yr old ex spurs player,( this guy is expected to achieve higher things, but is known for making mistakes info taken from Lincoln web site) Who ever we get I feel sorry for them it’s not going to be easy for them.Well that’s my views, what do you think about the question below? 1/ Do you think, Roger is slowing down and making too many mistakes? 2/ Is Jason Jones experienced enough to take over from the mighty Roger? 3/ Do you know of any up and coming goalkeepers (that are within our price range) who are good enough to take over from Roger?
